Augusta, Kansas Demographics

In 1886, the U.S. Government re-negotiated a treaty with the Osage tribe that opened up the land that is now Butler County for settlement. Chester James paid forty dollars for the town-site located near the confluence of the Walnut and Whitewater Rivers. By popular vote in early 1869, the community was named Augusta, after it’s founder’s wife.

Today, the city of Augusta has much to offer any business, industry, or family considering a move to the Midwest.
